Exedy, ACT, or Clutch Masters
which brand do you recomend as a replacemet for my stock clutch?
i want to keep the stock pedal feel or as close to it as possibe
this is going on my daily driver,
I just want a decent replacement for my stocker
the car is a 97 Ls teg with the basic bolt ons I/H/E.
do you race? track? or occasional stop light to stop light..
if you're car doesnt see the race track or do burnouts, I'd stay with a stock clutch.
there is no point in getting an aftermarket perfromance clutch if your car just has the basic bolt ons, and the main purpose of the car is for transportation and to just cruise around.
if you do have plans to step up to more HP like cams, headwork, or forced induction, then I'd bump up to an ACTION 1MD clutch kit. or CM stage 3 kit.

An exedy organic is fine until you start taking third gear to redline, it won't hold the rpms and you almost have to double clutch or hold the clutch down a little bit longer inorder to shift from third to fourth with out a grind. this may be because the exedy is really meant to be paired up with a lite aftermarket flywheel(which I do not have). Next time I replace my clutch I will be looking into a six puck design or the factory type r clutch. Haven't tried the act or the clutch masters but after this experience with the exedy, I will be looking into some other manufactureres.
I've got an exedy organic and i love it. Pedal feel is just a little stiffer than stock and it grabs really nice. Never had any problems with it and you can find them for pretty cheap too.

imho, i doubt this set up will be able to hold small turbos or sc's eventhough distributors claim it, but for daily driving car with bolt-on set ups, i think it serves its purpose..
I was wondering myself... how does the exedy racing clutch compare to the exedy OE clutch? I've done searches, but people dont make a distinction very clearly between them.
