Ok guys so i got an 89 hatch yesterday it has the original si engine in it. But the issue is that its pooring out water and oil, it over heats because of that. And when im in 5th gear it wont go past 40mph any ideas on what the issue could be?

 

sounds like head gasket if its leaking both oil and water(coolent)

you will or have caused serious engine damage by driving the car without fixing this problem

 

So fixing the headgasket will save me alot of headadache later on? Is there anything else that you would recommend i should look over?

 

Yes

Figure out when the timing belt was changed.

Check your fluids.

Check your tire pressure.

 

Also what do you think the issue with it wont go over 40 might be?

 

That's because it may have a blown head gasket.
