Icon2 Power cuts out when turning over, after clutch change. Please help

I just did a clutch change on a mini-me 99 civic.
I got everything put back together and when I turn the key to start the engine I hear a loud click (like a really loud solenoid) and all electrical power is gone. No dash lights or head lights, no power at all. I have to disconnect the battery and reattach it to the terminal to get all power back. Tried it again and it happened all over again. Any thoughts??

Thanks Guys

Check your grounds..... If you are hearing the starter solenoid click then you obviously have some "power" getting to the solenoid.

first thing id check is your negatives. there should be a ground going to your engine, and there should be one going to transmission. mine was doing the same thing when i replaced the transmission and clutch on my hatch. it was driving me nuts. i had the one ground that went from my engine to the frame, but apparently you need both.

sounds like your battery cables could be loose.

make sure you installed the transmission ground.
