Replacing cabin/dash harness, what am I getting into?
I'm looking at buying an ef shell. Body is real clean with a CF hood and it comes with a bunch of nice extras but the wiring has been cut the **** up. I attached a picture of what the engine bay looks like.

Inside, an obd1 jumper harness has been sliced in
I have a crashed ef that I can take the cabin/harness out of and replace it altogether that way I know it was done right or maybe I can try to salvage this one???
I've never done anything like that before but I don't mind learning.
That being said, am I just looking at a ******* headache here?
I tried searching and I found some post's about wire tucks, maybe I could use this as an opportunity to do a wire tuck???

recently did a dash/cabin harness swap on my 4 door.
it was pain in the *** taking out the a/c components to get to the whole harness out
not that hard it wasjust time consuming
did all by myself alot of headaxhe
but was well worth it as mine was ghetto rigged with integra dash/cabin.
good luck

I just did a cabin/engine harness swap in my crx it was a pain in the ***. Doing it by myself took me about 4 hours out and 4 hours in. Honestly I'd rather do an engine swap but that's just me.
Really? 8 hours isn't a small amount of time but If I could have this thing ready for my a6 in a long saturday or weekend, I might consider buying it.
I just want to make sure I fully understand the project that I'm considering undertaking.
Are there any write ups where people do this?

i dont tthink there are any write ups.
it took me 3 hours to take it out.
and less then 2 hours for me to put it in. i had Buddy help me put it on
yes it will be easier with no a/c less hassle.
all your doing is disconnecting the plugs and undoing the clips thats holding harness.

Hmm if thats the case then it seems like it would be cleaner and only a little more difficult to swap out a si chassis harness rather than do a whole mpfi conversion.
dont scare the guy!! lol
Imo: theres nothing hard in the automotive industry JUST time consuming.
just yesterday i did x2 curtain air bags, complete srs harness, and complete cabing harness on a 2012 sonata ( im a hyundai tech)
dont ask questions just get in there and tear it up.! take pictures if its your first harness so you can not mix up connections but most harnesses are taped and shaped for only 1 way!

I rapped up my friends EF today and the harness took about 3 hours over the course of 3 days. I would say alot had to do with the fact this was my first tear down of a car. It was so fun I didn't really keep track of time.
Everytime I get frustrated or stuck its best to move onto a small project/task to get your mind refreshed.
If the shell is a deal. I'd definitely pick one up. These cars are SOOOO easy to work on. Wow. So much more fun than a DSM.........
