B18b1 fan cooling issues-won't turn on
Hi I did a 96 ls swap and extended the wires for the thermostat sensor over to the thermostat housing. The fan won't turn on. I turned the air on full and pushed the ac button, and still nothing. I bought a new acura genuine sensor, and still no fan. What could be wrong??
To jump the fan, do I just attach a wire from the red to the red, and the black to the black? And how do I check the relay? I pulled it off and the pigtail was fill of this gel stuff which is supposed to help conduct.
Alright, I tested the fan and relay, they both work... The fuse is fine and the sensor for my thermostat housing is brand new and an acura genuine part. What next?? It's also worth noting that there is no thermostat, because it wouldn't open. I put it in a bioling pot of water, and it opened. Should I put it back in? I think that there was a bubble in the way..

Ok, I put the thermostat back in, and still the water wont flow. I drove it softly and the heat never got too hot. The lower radiator hose is pretty hot, but the lower isn't at all.
... I think you wrote that wrong but....
You're car shouldn't be getting hot/overheating. It should get just under the halfway mark. Burp the cooling system (google it if you need help)
I've seen issues with air in the system causing the fan not to turn on

I ran it yesturday and the car didn't get too hot, but I couldn't get the air out of the way. Also 96 B18B1's don't have a coolant bleeding screw.
Bleed like this:
Bleeding the cooling system may take 20-30 minutes.
1) Park the car on an inclined driveway with the front end higher than the rear.
2) Push/turn the dash heater lever/**** to MAX heat. Fan need not be on.
3) Follow the directions in the diagram below

"Start the engine and let it run until it warms up (the radiator fan comes on at least twice)." The fan doesn't come on at all!!
I'm not trying to bleed it. I'm trying to get the thermostat to open and the fans to turn on.

Ok, how do I jump that? Do I put power to the pigtail that connects? I just replaced that ECT switch with a brand new genuine acura one. There shouldn't be anything wrong with it.
Unplug the fan switch connector and then use a paperclip or piece of wire to short the two terminals in the 2P connector. When the key is turned to ON(II), the fan should run.
Awesome thanks! My other problem is that I can't get the thermostat to open when installed. I put it in a hot pot of water and it opened. Is it just not hot enough? I can't tell the engine temp so I dont want to overheat the engine trying to open the thermostat.
Same answer - bleed the cooling system.
Aright ill try that. Now I have another problem. When I pulled out the thermostat to test it, and then put it back in, the car ran pretty bad. I thought I had a blown head gasket, but my car didn't smoke at all when I started it, and smells like fresh gas. What would cause this? I think its misfiring.
