How to fix a warped trunk board in seven steps
Im not sure if this topic belongs here but it was the only place on here I thought this should go.
I was toying around with the car this weekend. So i was going to try a look to find a new trunk board since mine was so warped, but i decided to try and see if I could fix it without breaking it, before i go to try and find one. I actually got it to straiten out so I thought i would share. I should have tried to borrow a camera to take pics but... by the time i thought to do that I had already fixed it.
What i used to do this.
1. a water hose
2. two large empty recycle bins
3. my body weight
What I did.
First i flipped it to the side that was bowl shaped
Second i filled the bowl shape with water, then let it sit for 2 mins or so
Third I flipped it back over and stood on the center of the bow after the water soaked in, it actually started to get soggy and form back on its own
Fourth I flipped it back over to the bowl shaped side and soaked in again until it was completely soaked and put my weight on it again, but this time just stood on the outside edges
Fith i put put recycle bins on it to almost put weight on the entire board and let it sit over night
sixth the next day I flipped it back over to the other side, but it wasnt completly dry yet but it almost was, so I put the recycle bins back on it and waited for the heat and sun to dry it out
Seventh I checked to see if it dried and kept its shape and it did so now it back in my hatch and you would probally never even notice that it was warped in the first place
So in seven steps, two days and two heavy flat objects (recycle bins in my case) you can fix your warped trunk board.
Hope this helps somebody who was having this same problem.
