Default wideband egrl or eld? whats better?

I've read alot of info on the use of the eld pin for datalogging, but not so much on egrl. Is there a advantage to the eld over the egrl? As far as i've read the egrl doesn't need any resistors being cut, unlike the eld. I have mine run thru eld but the resistors are intact. I have to set the voltage offset at -0.45 and its a few tenths off from the gauge at warm up but after about half hour it is off by almost one point.(gauge@warm up=13.4, hondata=13.5, after its warm it reads at gauge=14.6 and on hondata=15.7) Not sure if its the resistors in the ecu(r136,r138) or the voltage offset being off. either way i'm just interested in what anyone has found regarding one or the other being better. Thx ahead of time for help and info.

Using D12 requires 0.1uF capacitor in C42 for the ECU to read the voltage correctly.
Therefor using ELD is easier as you only have to snip 2 resistors at r136 and r138.

The markings for the resistors are not clear so make sure you cut the two light blue resistors, not the brown one in the middle of the two.

Thx, I thought there was a reason everyone does the eld. On that note what do you know of adding a wire in place of the resistor?.... This idea was brought up when I asked the local shop about cutting the resistors out, he says they sometimes do sometimes don't. I pearsonally don't like the conversation involving my engine ecu to go that way....lol. I have read a bit about adding another type of element but that is a little out of my league. Thx for the info, srry I know you prolly have answered this a few dozen times already.

Just remove the resistors with a small pair of cutters & move on with your life :-)

Any hardware store should have smaller cutting pliers or even a crafts store for jewelry making.

Lol, my came home and had a pair of cuticle cutters! thx for all the help mtber, resistors are gone and the voltage offset is at -.18. Much better!

Interesting. I've been running my PLX into d12 with no obvious ill effects. Difference between the w/b gauge and datalogging is never more than ~0.1V. Maybe I need to take a closer look at my logs. Is this only an issue on Hondata? Or is the capacitor necessary for the Demon/NepTune setup as well?

Some ecus already have a component in c42 some don't.
If your input is working properly then just leave it alone.

C42 is empty in the ecu I have my board in. I'm currently running a different ecu with the basemap that I got from you, I stopped tuning on mine mostly for lack of spare time at the moment. The w/b is pinned in, but is obviously not currently being logged and is on an unused pin (egr lift). The n/b out from the sm-afr is running into D14.

This brings up a question then... If I move the w/b input to D10, will I have any issues on the chipped ecu, or do you typically deactivate the ELD on your basemaps? I like having the option to fall back onto the different ecu.

By default we do not disable ELD.

Okay. That's pretty much what I expected. Thanks for the input as usual John.
