Icon3 d16y7 Turbo Build begins!!

I have a 1989 Honda civic dx hatch with the stock d15b2 in it that is in need of replacement.

I have several things I want to do with this car. My overall goal is 200hp, nothing crazy as this will be my DD but I want the power to be there when I need it.

I definitely want to turbo whichever engine I put in there (explained more down below)

Basically what I need from you guys is your opinions on what I should do. Either a d15b with the 3 stage VTEC, or D16y7. If i went the Y7 route would it be better to do the mini me swap on it and then turbo it? And where would I get all the necessary parts for the swap?

What should I replace on the internals?
Which brands would you recommend and from where I can get it from?
I also wanna know what you guys would recommend as far as turbos and from where to get one.

This is very much a budget build, so bare that in mind.

Thanks very much for your time! Any help is appreciated.

I'm thinking of building a d15b7 on boost myself. If your going to swap your motor anyway why not just do a DOHC swap you could always boost that later and produce way more power.

I want it to be a SOHC, I'm just particular like that. Which do you think will be better for 200hp?

Thanks, I've also heard people talking about Eagle rods, would that be a wise decision to do? They're expensive as hell or I would definitely do it, maybe what would be the rods you would recommend? Also what else should I get? New springs or ARP headstuds? I mean is it necessary?

And I've also heard that the Vitara positions are .060 longer so the rods need to be shorter then stock rods, where might I find those?

I know, a lot of questions, just trying to get as much info as possible.

Or www.spoonfedturbos.com.

If your going for 200 hp then your 1.5 is going to be ok. I have been reading into this a whole lot and it looks like I'm going to start with a greddy kit on my d15b7. While I'm driving that around I will be buildint a fully built d16z or y motor. I wanted 200-220 hp but after reading and hearing this guys pushing over 400hp (on a fully built) SOHC motors I want to see just what I can do. Here is another thing what are you setting your car up for? I live in california so it is going to be hard to get a fully built motor with a turbo to pass the state ref and get a BAR sticker but where there is a will theres a way and I will keep a thread updated when this all starts.( I hope)
