Public Announcement: James @ BMC
I (James Goertz) of BMC will be getting out of the car game. All flanges, collectors, and other cnc projects will continue but the fabrication of BMC will be discontinued (unless I can find someone worthy of picking up where I leave off)
I am chasing after something I have wanted to do since I was a young kid, I have joined the US Army and will be shipping out Jan 14, 2013.
I will continue to take a handful of orders between now and the beginning of December, so anyone still wanting to get in on that custom intake or exhaust manifold let me know and I'll work you a very special deal.

I actually have a ton of family in the army.
Cousin who is Army Sniper
Uncle who is retired Warrant Officer 2 CID (served in Desert Storm and all major conflicts up to 2008)
Uncle who is retired Navy
Uncle who is Army Calvary now reservist
and one last uncle who has done contract paramedic work
After that a lot of my closest friends have been police officers which in their own way serve a very similar purpose the the military.
I grew up around the stars stripes and uniforms so it is something I always wanted to do but ended up painting myself into a corner that wouldn't allow me.
As far as choosing Army over Air Force, Navy, or Marines. I actually scored quite well on my ASVAB and am eligible for any mos in any of the US Armed forces but I chose Army due to its being the largest unit which will grant the largest amounts of opportunities.

Not everyone is cutout for the army bud^^
I know exactly what I'm getting myself into, I grew up around it and have a very good understanding.
After that's said
Apparently hard work and perseverance even before your in the Army is a good thing.
My Station Commander and PT instructor have put in to have my contract modified to an option 40, Army Ranger. It wasn't available at the time of my enlistment but they're pulling some strings to get it worked out for me

Goodluck dude! ..... I wish I could swap with you because I have been chasing the dream that you have been living.... fabrication and just building stuff.... I even remember your early posts in here... LOL! But like you said, military is not for everyone. It took me a long time before I started appreciating and enjoying my NAVY job.... Now I am eligible to retire. When I do, I'd like to start a small fab shop. One thing I advise to you is to pursue becoming an Officer. Take advantage of the education benefits. Do NOT decline the GI Bill.... that is one of the best military benefits ever!..... one thing tho... when will the ARMY beat the NAVY in football???? haha.
NAvy is for semen, Army is for real MEN... I was a 11B that picked Special forces after getting my E6. I loved it everyday, Rangers are alright but SF is where its at! To bad some Iraqi had to put an IED where he did when he did or I would still be in messing stuff up.
Ill take over for ya!

Just wanted to say thanks for all the support guys
I am not taking any more orders now, I am booked up till the end of the year and have only 11 weeks left before I ship out.
I'm not quite sure how long I'll stay in the military, its not a question if I'll like it but instead a question of how it will effect my relationship with my gf of 5 years. I may end up only doing the 3 years then going with a more civilian type job such as SWAT team or something or the other. I do plan on being in a job that is serving the community as a whole though.
I will say that if I don't renew my contract and continue past the initial 3 years, I will most likely be fabbing on the the side since its in my blood and something I will never really quit.
Just wanting to thank everyone again for the support over the years.
