Hey guys , jdm 97 integra type r is acting up again . The other day my oil got really really low and my check engine light came on. It gave me a 21 which was the VTEC Spool Solenoid Valve. so i was reading up on it and it said that it will give you that error if its messed up or if your oil gets low. Now i changed the oil and reset the ecu but light is still on. I went into third and floored in and yep no VTEC. Now is there a way to trouble shoot it? Would taking it off and cleaning it help or no? and how would i troubleshoot it. And if i just need another one can i take it from a different car? there are lots of preludes with H22 in them here in Japan. Buying a new solenoid here would run around $300. Thank guys!

 

Edit: you did reset the ECU.

Sometimes the screen on the solenoid becomes clogged.
