Icon2 Differential Question

Hey Guys,

I have a question, does anyone know, for a fact, if an Automatic B-Series Differential can be swapped into a Manual B-Series Transmission? Say an Automatic B18B Differential into a 5-Speed B18B Tranmission.

My question arises because I have a JDM B16A Automatic Transmission with OEM LSD from Honda. It was pulled from a JDM 92-95 SiR-II in Japan and imported. I ran this transmission mated to a B16A2 from a 1999 Civic Si on my 1996 Automatic Civic Hatchback. It was a fun swap, but I parted ways with the whole car and now I have the Full Swap for sale.

I have a potential buyer, but he wants to know if that LSD can be removed and installed into a 5-Speed Transmission.

For the most part, there's a good rule of thumb that "B-Series is B-Series" so I know they share almost everything, however, with these being Automatic vs. Manual - I do not think this will apply.

I personally do not know if it will work, but I do not want to give false information to the potential buyer. If anyone has tried this or knows from experience, then please let me know. I would like to hear facts and not guesses. I'll leave this to the Transmission/Drivetrain Guru's to elaborate, thanks for all the help in advance!

Regards,
Danny

I appreciate both your inputs, but this is not the type of response I'm looking for.

A plain "It will not work" doesn't do much for me. Have you tried it personally? Why exactly will it not work? Please provide some detailed and elaborate explanation. If not, it seems like you're just guessing and I have to take your word for it.

I'm looking for concrete, in-depth answers.

Thank you,
Danny

Nice! Definitely contact me if you buy the Auto EK for the wifey. I'll sell you the Full Swap and/or Tranny for sure if I still have it

Aquafina is right...it will not work. The automatic transmission has a completely different design. The speedo gear in in the center of the auto LSD as compared to the manual LSD where it is offset to one side and the ring gear bolts up differently.

Do you still have this stuff. I'm interested in buying if it would work with a B20 non-vtec in a 97 Civic LX currently an automatic with a d16y7?
