Default HyTech vs. DC JDM/Comptech dyno comparison

Here's my graph comparing my old exhaust setup consisting of a DC JDM 4-1 header, Carsound cat, and Comptech exhaust vs. the HyTech header-cat-exhaust system.

Before tuning, the HyTech system had 5-10whp over the DC/Comptech system throughout the entire powerband. Good stuff.

After tuning we pulled a nice fat midrange and were able to gain 31whp over the old setup, 21.3whp gain over the HyTech itself without tuning

Peak numbers after tuning were 186.5/130.3. Before tuning the HyTech system put out 178.8/125.8

Mods are just Comptech Icebox and HyTech exhaust system. Tuning done with cam gears, VAFC, and FPR.

Whoa here!

Are you telling me that you gained more than 35+ whp from stock just with the hytech exhaust. This seems crazy to me. I don't think running an open header would even give you that much. Am I missing something here?

This wasn't a comparison of just catbacks, this compared two entirely different exhaust systems.

Josh,

On the green (hp) and black (torque) curves for run 01, were you using cam gears, VAFC, FPR and stock VTEC?

Nice numbers

For run 1, the tuning mods hadn't been touched, it was just Comptech Icebox (on stock rubber intake hose) and HyTech exhaust system. Here's the raw dyno without my old dyno covering stuff up.

Awesome numbers!

I take it that you don't have any sort of catalytic converter, right?

I do have a cat, HyTech's modified Renault that is included with the full exhaust systems. Emissions tested low enough for CARB approval.

I think HyTech is using a Renault one now...I'm sure I'll be corrected if that's wrong

This is insane. I'm truly shocked by these awsome numbers. Up until this point my setup was going to be comptech icebox, jdm 4-1, carsound cat and comptech exhaust. I'm debating if I should switch but HyTech stuff is very pricey....but worth it I guess.

Don't do it man haha. The Comptech exhaust is 2.25" OD so it's basically the same as stock. Not much gain to be had with it obviously.
