Hello,

I bought a used 1998 Honda Civic about two years back. Lately it has been jerking very violently whenever I accelerate and change gears. And when I come to a stop, it takes it longer than it should for it start accelerating again. Any ideas as to what could be wrong with it and what I should focus my attention on?

 

It could be anything.I would start by checking sparkplugs and wires,distributor cap and rotor,and fuel filter.If one of those are bad i would change it asap your car may just need a tune up.

 

I kind of have the same problem.. i think. After I shift gears it will sound like the motor is bogging down and jerk the car a bit. I thought it was bad gas but I have since filled up 3 times since that batch and it still does it but not as often. My spark plugs and wires are good, have not checked the dizzy yet.

 

I an having same issue with 95 z6.

Fuel filter first, check dizzy, check plug gap, run chevron gas, check back after that.

 

Any CEL? Does the bulb work?

Check mechanical and ignition timing, fuel pressure, and spark.

 

When was the last time anyone of you did a full tune up?
Don't know why you felt the need to jack the thread just to say "me too" when you already started your OWN thread.

 

Not trying to thread jack. Searching this problem was a pain. Everyone describes the symptoms different. Throwing it out there helps him, me and others since not every threads' replies help. His solution could end up on my thread and vice versa.

But thanks for pointing out that all I said was "me too".
