How to re-install AT shifter cable
So I just reinstalled my shifter cable but i am wondering if have to put the shifter cog (or whatever you call it) in the same position as the shifter stick is in (in this case park)?
Or does it not matter? I don't wanna get in my car after the rebuild only to find out I can't shift into any or certain gears.
Does it matter? Someone's gotta know what im talking about.
EDIT
I am talking about the shifter cable box located on the actual transmission,

The cable can only attach to the transmission in one way.
If the shifter was in Park when you removed the transmission, then rotate the gear selector on the transmission to the Park position.
After the cable is installed, hop into the car, use your key into the slot to unlock the shifter, and verify that you can select from P-D1.

There's only one hole in the center of the control lever for you to line up the shift cable hole to then put the metal pin through follow by the tiny cotter pin to keep it in place and nut.
