1996 b18c bouncing idle. cleaned iacv and there was a loose oring inside of it.
okay, i have a 1996 b18c with a bouncing idle. i know this is a well covered topic but i haven't found any info on this. so i cleaned the iacv with carb cleaner and noticed in the hole without the screen there was a loose o ring. i pulled the valve or the that spring looking thing in the open iacv hole back and the o-ring fell seemingly into place. then i hooked it all back up and its still bouncing. is there a way to seal this o ring back in place, i can manipulate it a bit with a small screwdriver. just to be clear im not talking about the double o-ring on the outside of the iacv, that is nice and secure.
anyway, here are the symptoms for what its worth. at a completely cold start it idles at 1500 then very slowly increases when starting to get warm. once it hits 2000 it drops to 1100 and starts bouncing from 1100 to 2000. if i pull the iacv plug it drops to 1500 and bounces to 1600 or so then back to 1500 etc.
i think it the oring seal inside of the iacv causing this problem. just want your thoughts before i replace the iacv.
there are no cels. and im not sure if this matters but the exhaust is not completely secure. the exhaust pipe coming form the header, the down pipe, i think its called, is not secured to my exhaust b/c the flanges dont line up. its held together fairly well with wire ties until i can get it to a muffle shop.
