All that is dead when you switch to OBD1 so you can rip it out if you want.

Just leave it unless it bothers you being there, doesnt effect anything.

Ive read that youll smell gas fumes and such if removed..

Now whether this is true or not, IDK... theres too much confusion in the threads..

Some say rip it off and leave it, others route it under the car, and some have put a check valve on the purge line

I wanted to remove mine for 2 years but theres not a DIY or detailed write up on the proper way to do it.

It works to vent the fumes from the gas tank. If you can live with the fumes, then remove it. I LOL'd a the comment about being dead because of OBD1. My 94 civic came with one stock which is OBD1 and it is still in there after I swapped a 99 GSR into my hatch.

As said before it only keeps the fumes from the gas tank from escaping while venting the gas tank!!!

There is not much to removing it. Just take it out and the tubes attached, just don't plug the hard lines on the firewall the tubes go to. Your tank still needs to be vented!!!

Remove it, weight reduction...

And it's an emissions device...only keep it if you like trees.

Yes, the car will smell like fuel fumes if removed. Keep it. It doesn't "save weight" or give you "free power". Leave it alone.

What about removing the whole entire system, line routing, evap sol, etc.

&

Plugging up the intake manifold, removing the Fuel Pressure sensor, and plugging up
the back of the tank. Did it on my EK. Didn't seem to serve a problem.

Then again, i'm thinking twice right now about it. I should've just left it alone.

But I have an excuse for removal back then, I was a ricer. :[

I do not want to smell fuel. Ef that. So I'm keeping the charcoal canister (but which one?) I have a dx onethat i want to use because it is smaller. But the wiring plug doesn't fit. I currently have an em1 installed but it's huge.

STUPID QUESTION OF THE DAY: Is the em1 charcoal canister 'better' in any way?

no. They work equally the same. don't switch out, don't go for a "smaller unit" as it will just saturate faster and cause the same fumes. Some things are just not necessary to touch.

If you drive the car on the street a lot of it is a DD then leave it in. If it is a track only car and is not street driven much then pull it out. I left mine in because I still DD my Ls Vtec swapped Civic and I and still fully OBD2 ready, all I need to do is plug in my P75 ECU if I need to for emissions, no Vtec but it runs the motor perfectly and is 100% legal.
The canister is in no way effected by boosting the motor it is for fuel vapor emissions only.
