Default removing rocker assembly

i was watching the video in this thread

http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthre...lug+tube+seals

2 questions

can the assembly be removed in any position or does the motor have to be at tdc?

and nothing popped up like the poster was saying due to belt tension when he removed it..........so what exactly is the op talking about?

It doesnt matter either way. Even on reinstall you will have to rotate the cam/ rocker assembly to adjust the valve clearances.

Doesn't have to be at TDC.

i find it is easiest to set it at tdc before removing everything since i like to have it all set when i line it all back up at assembly time.

I do'nt put mine at TDC, but MAKE SURE the rocker assembly doesn't spring apart when you pull it off. Mine did and it took a loooong time to find all the pieces

If you loosen the valve tappets then it can't spring apart.
If you don't loosen them, the valve spring tension will pop it apart.

i didn't see him do that, you mean back off the adjuster screws on all valves correct?

I didn't watch any video, but I'm just giving you fair warning so you don't end up searching your garage for random little pieces of your valvetrain. Keeping the bolts in the rocker assembly will also help keep it together

Same part, different term. Honda technically calls them tappet adjusting screws.

one question i do have tho, why is i possible to adjust both intake and exhaust valves on the compression stroke? is it because they are all closed at this point?

Probably more in depth than you need, but for others that don't know....
You want the valves shut and sealed on the head when the piston is coming up.
The springs are taking care of this job by pulling them up into place.
The tappets should have a gap so that the rocker is NOT pressing on the valve stem.
When there IS contact between the valve stem and tappet, then the valve is open - even just a little bit.
This gap is the valve lash.

So, during compression both intake and exhaust are closed just as you were thinking.
