92 civic z6 jumped time and locked up
So long story short my car jumpe time on the way home then at idle it shut off and locked the motor up. What could cause it to lock up by jumping time ?

The pistons hitting the valves can lock up an engine. You may have bent or broken a valve. If the timing belt isn't broken, set the cam timing, try to start the engine, if it runs but has a shake or a miss, most likely a valve is bent. A compression test or leak down test may not pick up a slightly bent valve. A bent valve will eventually brake off, destroying your engine.

Yea I had that in mind also. But when I took valve cover and upper timing cover off I could literally move the timing belt half way off the gear I'm wondering if the tensioner failed?

That, or you shreded the teeth... You will need a new belt. ...and you will probably be pulling the head. At that point, since you are in there, you might as well replace the belt, pump, tensioner, cam and front main seal...

The belt stretches over time. The tensioner should lock in place with a 14mm bolt. You might be able to use the belt if its not damaged, set the cam timing, set the tension, and see if it runs. If it runs, the engine still may be damaged, if that's the case, it would be a good excuse to upgrade to a bigger better motor.

Yea dont know how to get pics from phone on here but I'm takin it to my shop tomorriw and taking a look at the head. After I removed the timing belt the head would turn over easily and all valves were closing. Haven't had a chance try and turn bottom end over manually yet
