so this sound started today after driving the car, it got louder gradually. it first started doing it when i rev the motor now its also doing it at idle.

the sound feels and sounds like its right under the valve cover

last time i drove the car i miss shifted going from 3-4 and went to second but realized it very quickly and hit the clutch. the car ran good for the rest of the night after that.

 

ummm thats an issue for sure man 2 things come to mind rod slap or valve slap

 

valve slap is in valve hitting piston?

 

yah man check the crank/cam gears for timing to see if the belt didnt slip

drop the oil pan and see if any rod is broken

 

defiantly rod knock...tear it apart...

 

the shift issue was the only reason i thought valve

 

It could as be bad lma's. Had a set go out on the dyno. Bisi pulled out the scope to help find the issue. I sure thought it was the bottom end. Turned out to be stuck lma's. Switched out to the new s2k and went back to tunning.

 

take off you oil filter and cut it open i bet it looks like these pics

 

rod knock
broken rocker arm flying around
valve slap or piston slap


Either / or, this motor needs to be torn down..in for carnage pictures as thats always fun to look at.

Ouch! I love how he keeps revving it up like its not heard loud enough at idle. Bearing defiantly gone on at least one cylinder. Probably on the way out on others also

at the beginning of the vid i was convinced it was bad lma's, it sounded just like my car. then it revved up and it really sounds like a rod knock.
