Default Amp choices

Wanted to see what you guys think and see which is worth buying.
The alpine MRX M1000, MRX M110, or the Kenwood KAC 9105D
They would be for two alpine SWR 10D4.
Any help would be appreciated.

none of the options listed.

Find a quality OLD SCHOOL amp like a Punch 150HD, Soundstream, Zapco, etc.

The quality COMPARISON between the older amps and the new ones is like night and day. The older amps were made with better parts and the failure rate was less, yet yielding more power.

As for old school amps, here are three good examples to look for:

Soundstream "REFERENCE" amps

Zapco amps

HiFonics amps

Those Alpine Type R amps cannot come close to those amps I mentioned. The only Alpine amps that were considered "good" is the 3500 series...such as the 3555.

No complaints about the amp. My friend has this amp and it does a great job of powering his alpine type X. One thing I don't understand though..how does it produce 1100 watts at all ohm loads? That doesn't make sense.

its 1000 watt amp thats under rated just like kickers zx series and fosgates power series and a few other good brands.. the only diff is the alpine pdx is the only amp on the market that has the same watts at 2ohm and 4ohm... ohhh and i forgot it wasnt 1ohm stable :/ was kinda tired last night when i posted lol..

JL's do the same

That's due to the regulated power supply

Btw, pdx amps are terrible. Nothing but noise issues with those things.

Nothing on the market is going to compare to old school amps. If you look at the amps closely, the old school amps are much heavier for the same Watt output. The heavier it is the bigger the heatsink thus it run more efficient b/c it runs cooler. Also look at the distortion level. Higher wattage does not mean better quality. What good is cranking up the volume full of distortion.
Check Ebay for some of these amps. A lot of the sellers don't know the value of the amps and they sell them real cheap. I got my MTX 4160 for $40, that thing worth at least $200. It's super clean sound heavy as heck too.

That's not entirely true. While I agree the older amps are better. The reason some of the newer amps are smaller is primarily because those amps are class D amps. Which are more efficient which means they put out less heat which requires less heatsink material to dissapate.

Old school amps are horribly inefficient. That is why they get so hot. That heat is wasted energy that instead of putting into the speaker your dumping into the heat sink. Which unless you like frying eggs on your amp is bad! What you trade off in efficientcy you gain in sound quality. Which IMO is the better trade off.

That part I know but from the cost vs cost, it seems the class D are smaller and cooler but the distortion and noise level is so high. I have sensitive hearing and I could hear it before the music starts.

lol@ you being able to hear that distortion.

Noones ears are that sensitive.

Old school amps are cool for low powered setups, but newer speakers/subs are a lot less efficient then they were back in the day.

Those 100 watt "old school" amps just don't provide enough..

The subs come with a sheet to show you how to wire two subs to one amp at 2ohms. Is their a way to wire them at 1ohm. I get a little confused at that point.

If you are talking about noise during silence, look for ground loops/electrical noise from alt or various other circuits. Not necessarily the amps fault.
