Synchrotech Service Bulletin (SSB 001) K20 synchro fitment

K series 6 speed manual transmissions from 2001-2012 use dual cone synchros on 3rd and 4th gears. Many models also use a dual cone synchro on 5th and 6th gears. Honda used two different designs of dual cone synchros with a 7 degree angle and an 8 degree angle. Either design can be used but it is very important not to mix up the synchros and steel center cone rings when disassembling the shafts. When installing new synchros they should always be replaced as a match set with new steel cone rings. A mismatched synchro and steel cone will cause poor fitment and premature wear. All OEM synchro sets and Synchrotech Carbon synchro sets come complete with new matching steel cone rings.
