Default Does The D16z6 Vtec use a purge control solenoid?

This may be a stupid question to some of you but Im very new to the Honda car engine thing...I bought a car for my son, someone had swapped the motor and trans for a d16z6 Vtec with manual transmission. It seems that they used the old wiring harness from the the b15 non-vtec. The motor was blown when we got it but Ive since rebuilt a new D16 using the Vtec head,,blah blah blah.Im finging the temp sensor wiring hooked to the vtec oil pressure sw, IAC connector hooked to the temp sensor on the thermostat housing, no wiring from A6 to vtec solenoid, no wiring from D6 at all......
To shorten this already long winded intro, what else will I find different besides the fact that this motor/head have 3 temp sensors, no purge control solenoid and missing some wiring?
And which temp sensors should I use?
Ant help would be appreciated

Oh, BTW, its a 94 civic with an ODB1 ECM. already did the conversion from auto to manual with the RP17 and RP18 resistor and jumpered out RP18

should just be a ect temp sensor on the head (2 wires) and a sending unit for the temp gauge on the dash (1wire, also on the head) then the fan switch (2wires) on the thermostat housing. iirc. but this should've been how the factory engine hooked-up as well.

differences: wire the vtec solenoid and the pressure switch, as well as the knock sensor (on the back of the block next to the oil pressure switch)... that should be about it, as everything else will be identical to the d15b7 (factory motor)

evap purge solenoid should be there, but it'd be on the firewall in the car that motor came from (i think?) i know the stock motor would have a place to mount it on the intake manifold. i don't think the d16z6 does... but anyway, use whatever one from that gen civic and run the vacuum hoses, make a bracket or let it dangle.. hopefully the plug is still there on the harness.

another little gem.. make sure the map and tps plugs aren't switched. it won't (usually) trigger a cel, but it'll make it run funny and everyone has done it at least once.

Thanks for the help. Havent found the purge solenoid or a knock sensor but the block came from a 91 civic with an d16a6 block from the local junkyard. I dont remember one being on the block anywhere. But I may have plugged a hole with one from the old z6 block or something. Havent seen one in the wiring diagrams either but will look some more. Got all the codes to clear but now its overheating and gauge is pegged. No codes so maybe the single wire sending unit is bad or I have a ton of air in the system.
Thanks again!

d16a6 block = no knock sensor

that's something you can run a wire and put the sensor on the firewall by the computer inside the car. likely to run better like that as well, it's a trick a lot of nissan guys use.

good luck!

Purge solenoid is attached to the intake manifold. The OBD1 P28 ECU won't throw a code for knock or a missing evap purge though.

Is this saying it wont throw for a knock or evap but it will for the purge?or it wont for all 3? will a D16Z6 run fine without the purge?(the black thing on back of intake)

Evap purge is one sensor. The z6 doesn't have a knock so the p28 ecu won't throw a knock code. Not having the evap purge will not make the car run any different.

I dont have the plug for the evap purge, can I just run the vaccum lines to it without the plug plugged in and still drive ok?
