CRV Transmission change help
So I bought my daughter a CR-V a few weeks ago. The transmission already went out. I need to find a new one. Any tried and true places to use? Also, how long might it take to put in. I was hoping to do it this weekend with long Labor day holiday. Any help please respond asap. Thanks
AWD or 2wd? The AWD makes it a bit more of a pain in the *** to change...but anyone with good mechanical knowledge can get it banged out in a weekend.
eh, not likely. But its no different than any other vehicle. remove front tires, remove axle nut, remove shock, remove lower ball joint, remove axle shaft (use a pry bar from the back, dont pull it on as you'll just seperate it), do the same for the other side. remove inspection plate on bottom of trans, rotate engine using a ratcheting pry bar and socket on the crank bolt (theres a hole in the plastics for this) and remove bolts holding the torque converter onto the flexplate, remove any bolts on the bell housing you can see from the bottom, remove shifter cables from tranny, remove bolts from drive shaft, go to the top of the motor and remove all but one bolt around the bell housing, remove all wiring going to the tranny, support tranny with tranny jack, put a board across the fenders and ratchet strap up the engine so it doesnt fall when you remove the trans, remove bolts from all of the tranny mounts, disconnect trans cooler lines, remove last bellhousing bolt and disconnect the tranny from the motor. Installation is reverse. If you get caught up in a snag, use your imagination. lol
