Blox log exhaust mani. studs? bolts stripped
I pulled a "Dukes of Hazzard" driving in road construction. Have a Blox log mani. going to a custom DP, 6"in flex in DP, full 3" Thermal exhaust. BTW my exhaust seems to fit "tight" between DP and the rest of exhaust which still uses all rubber hangers
I bottomed out bad going off a 6in to 8in cement grind on a highway. Car right away sounded different. All the lower exhaust manifold bolts pulled loose or at had about 3 threads pulled out of head. I still have 3 threads before exhaust bolts bottom out. It's a ITR head and I don't want issues with bolts stripped so
Who makes a stud kit of quality hardware? or
Any ideas on keeping from stripping out head.

If this were my car I would pull the head off take it to a head repair shop have a resurface done, valve seals, and repair any threads with inserts and reinstall.
Can't go wrong with making sure your head is taken care of and a new headgasket at the same time.

Can also look into a Timesert kit for the correct thread pitch that you have in there now. Or like Lightning said, just get the next size up and do it that way. Timesert is quality stuff though. You wouldn't have any issue after that.
Time serts are the jam, I would never use a helicoil again.
It's a 96 ls Integra. But I agree this is def. a non advertised hazzard of lowering your ride. I am only 2" lowered.
I will be having to fix on the car, Head doesn't need a valve job yet. I will check into Time Certs. BTW How much room do you need to install?
My original thoughts were going up in size and re tapping looks like there is plenty of meat in that area of the head.
Thanks for the replies

Timeserts are great but pricey. Helicoils will work just fine. I've been using them for years. Even have some in my block for my headstuds. They hold way better than stock threads when done right.
