Default Common problems on a 04 TL?

What are some common problems on a 04 TL? My friend is looking to buy one and wondering what should we look for besides the basics? Are the transmissions known to have problems? And does the TL have a timing belt or chain?

Cracked dash boards...all of them, if haven't been replaced yet.

Compliance bushings, mirror actuators, power steering hose leak(recall)rear calipers. I work at an Acura dealer and these are the common problems I see.

I know that my stock 17"s got some pretty bad bends but that may be because of the terrible boston roads

take this from the guy who lives in hawai :p up here in the north no cracked dashboard. If you live anywhere but the northern most states get a sun shade if you use that all the time and crack windows, plus only clean your dashboard with water you should be fine. My understanding is this comes from the extreme heat a black dashboard gets. When the dashboard cools it develops the cracks. On a hot day no joke you could prly cook eggs on them. So you need to keep it from getting too hot. The other thing is according to honda almost all the interior products at stores essentially clog the pores in the plastic. The plastic is designed to expand and has tiny pores to allow expansion. When you use products to clean the dash eventually these holes fill with the product and won't expand. Even the products that claim they help will actually hurt.

Other than that like they said the only other major issue to worry about is the transmission, they don't all fail and there are ways you can greatly reduce your chances but if you want to be safe don't get an 04 and try to get newer than 06
