hey my buddy has a 2003 acura tl and one of his headlights went out so we ordered a d2s hid kit from ddm tuning. has anybody installed aftermarket hids in a 02/03 tl?

i tried looking for diys and i find a lot of stuff on 04+ tls but not anything on 99-03...not sure if the 99 is different but the headlights look diff thats why im asking about 02-03..i could be wrong?

also is it like most headlights that dont already have oem hids where u plug the headlight bulbs wire in the ballast and connect the bulb to the ballast and just put the bulb in? or is there more to it?

The same as any other car

 

car has factory HID's. no need to get the 'kit' just a new bulb. however first i would make sure the ballast isn't toast. common problem with 02-03 TL, water gets in headlight ballast is the low point. ballasts go fairly easily unless you get the newer style with the rubber plug.

 

his bulbs shot and the new bulb he said is expensive so we got a set of hids for 35$..still havnt installed them yet

 

turns out its plug and play. luckily my mechanic had some plugs from a bmw so we used those. for other people who come across this thread, IT IS NOT LIKE EVERY OTHER CAR!

Most cars have a 2 prong plug that the bulb plugs into. in this car its 3 prong similar to bmws and audis etc. bc it has hids already. you will need that connected piece to make them work

i got my bulbs ballasts from ddm tuning.
