1999 Honda civic vp key problems
I just bought a 1999 civic last week and I am having a problem with the ignition key. When you turn the key it will not start the car unless you turn it a certain way, almost like having to add a lot more pressure to start it. So I am looking to fix this. Can I just buy a new tumbler and keys off of eBay or do I need to purchase the whole ignition assembly? Thanks

It sounds like the electrical switch rather than the lock cylinder, which is very expensive.
Test the switch (see FAQs sticky). If it's bad, you can buy the electrical part of the switch for about $50 on eBay, if I remember correctly.

So this is what you are talking about? Thanks again

No meter lol. Thinking about it more the switch does sound like it could be the problem. I will buy it and try it. If it doesn't work I will move on to the next thing lol.

They routinely sell the multimeters for like 2 bucks here. Hope you got one.
