Default Vtec oil leak quick question....

I don't usually get up in RPMs much, mainly because I try to get the best MPG possible. But this morning I was feeling a bit "saucy" and did so on the way to fill up the tank. I noticed that there was more than usual oil on the top/front of the transmission. I have been trying to figure out where the small amount of oil was coming from for a little bit now.

I degreased the engine about a week or two ago to try and see where it's coming from. The bottom of the distributor is dry from what I can tell.

Is it valid logic to believe that after Vtec is engaged it could push more oil out than when it isn't engaged?

Possible leak from the Vtec solinoid, or bottom of the dizzy, valve cover gasket or cam seal can cause this to happen.. You can ge an oil dye from autoparts stores as a kit and that will show you where its comming from.

Yeah, somehow, through all of the rambling I did above, I did not put that I thought it may be the Vtec solenoid.....Hopefully it isn't coming from the head gasket though.

Replaced the dizzy oring today. I'll watch the area more but this is what I found. I cut it to get it off, but there was a bit of mushrooming of the o-ring.

By the way, for the vtec solenoid gasket it would be number 11, correct?

yes number 11, and also there is another gasket as the vtec solenoid top portion comes off the bottom half.

i had the same type of leak, i changed both these and now it doesn't leak anymore.

good luck.

Thanks, upon further inspection, it looks like the one I was showing was for the previous generation.
