Strut Bar Rubbing Map Sensor
I just put a DC front strut bar on my 95 Del Sol with a JDM B18C Type R motor and trans. It is touching/squishing my MAP sensor. Causing excess vibratins into the cabin at some points of diving. (i have the edelbrock 65mm throttle body also)
I am going to replace the intake manifold with a Performer X which sits back a little further and will push the throttle body back and out of the way.
Recently my finances have changed so its going to be at least a month before this happens.
Would it be ok to
A) leave it as is and deal with the heavy vibes
B) Shave a bit of the top of the MAP sensor off to fit (like 3-4mm)
C) Put steel spacer washers over the 2 bolts to move the bar up just enough
I am affraid of putting the washers there because the strut bar base will not sit flush on the strut tower and I feel it might bend the bolts on my struts (which are apexi and i dont want to mess them up)
Total spacing will be 1/4" with washers.
Thanks guys.

Re: Strut Bar Rubbing Map Sensor
well I would like to keep it on there. Wondering if it is going to cause any damage to anything for the next month if I leave it on as is. Or if I can perform one of the above listed solutions in the mean time.
Removing the bar is defintiely an option but I would like to keep it installed if problems wont occur.

Re: Strut Bar Rubbing Map Sensor
Looking for information like will extra stress on the throttle body bolts/studs damage anything and if that is putting excess stress on the intake manifold bolts/studs. It is a very very little amount of pressure. For my motor mounts one bushing is not solid on the drivers side of the vehicle, the rest are solid bushings (that is the way it came) so the motor does not move much at all to begin with.

All kidding aside I would get rid of the bar for time being.

Re: Strut Bar Rubbing Map Sensor
removed bar and all of its sexiness.
Wanna sell it or trade it for a 3 point strut bar.
Spent intake manifold money on AEM oil pressure and wide ban gauges along with a custom pod and all fittings to keep dummy oil light.
I need to monitor some possible issues I got going on before I shell out on more performance.
All ideas, thanks a lot for input.
And yes it squished it to death.
RIP old map sensor.

Re: Strut Bar Rubbing Map Sensor
why you would go through that problem just for a stupid strut bar is beyond me.
it also doesn't help that you're not running torque mounts with oem motor mounts.

Re: Strut Bar Rubbing Map Sensor
Didnt notice issue until it was installed, now I'm stuck with the part in my closet for the time being.
The drivers side motor mount is the only one that is not a poly bushing, thats the way it was when i purchased it. Hasport mounts are in my future.
Is that what you meant by torque mounts?

Re: Strut Bar Rubbing Map Sensor
So you're running a strut bar that is incompatible with your swap. You are changing out the IM in a month. So WTF would you not just run without the bar until then?
I'm sorry but that would seem to me to be plain common sense instead of trying to rig up some half baked solution.

Re: Strut Bar Rubbing Map Sensor
I did remove the bar. The general opinion was common sense to remove it. I have already replaced the MAP sensor.
Its back to the way it was, barless.
Intake manifold is on hold for most likely some time now. Seems in my best inerest to have that done with the headwork im saving for.
In the meantime I am having some possible oil pressure issues and my tune keeps reverting to a very rich state. (possible computer issue from previous moisture problems)
Installing AF gauge and oil pressure gauge today to get an idea of whats going on.
