No ignition after replacing a broken timing belt.
I replaced a broken timing belt on my 95 civic 16 vlv along with a new idler/tensioner and water pump. I followed all the directions by ensuring #1 is TDC by pointing at number 1 cylinder in distributor. The white mark on the crank is also set to the oil pump pointer on the plastic timing cover. Have checked the spark from #1 cylinder by use
of a grounded spark tester, and also tried a nail close to a ground, and no dice! It has not ran since the belt broke. I should still be getting ignition regardless of timing since it is not condusive to actually timing. Or is it? Please help, new to this honda set up and am tired!!!

Did you say it was broken like completely? Maybe you bend the valves? Maybe worse. Maybe you need a new engine. These cars don't have protection like the newer models do. If timing belt breaks, the damage is severe.
Damage doesn't always occur, but it's a real possibility. Therefore, before you distract yourself with the spark problem, compression test the cylinders.
If compression is good, start by testing the coil and igniter unit inside the distributor. See FAQs sticky.

I have tested the compression and am getting an average of 160 out of all four. I tested each hole twice. How do you go about testing the guts of the distributor? Ohmeter? If so what kind of numbers should I see on each part? I appreciate both responses in giving me a hand! Coould it be a main relay or something else possibly ECU related? My dad was driving it at most three blocks when it completely broke. He had it towed, did not mess with it at all as he isnt very mechanically inclined. Thanks
My bad RonJ, I am new to this forum and didnt look at your fault isolation at the bottom of your post. I will check these items and let you know what I come up with.
