(he sold me a d16y5 instead of a y8 like he said...)
no Dizzy/wires no injectors on the manifold - no alternator)
and he sent this..

"do you know how much a good long running longblock from junkyard is? 1100 - now I expect that head - if you didnt want the motor you shouldn't have bought it. (then I mention he sold me the incorrect motor)

sorry if i misread the engine code...you will be happier with that engine...if its an HX engine, i could have sold it for 3 times as much
if anything after you get it running for a few more bucks i can convert your car to OBD2 and it will give you 40-50MPG
a P28 will def make up on the power band though, you will like it, i got start and drive it, that engine is healthy as ****
vtec-e engine are usually in better condition anyway because people dont rag on them
and the d16y5 are vtec-e engines - if that is true - you are lucky to ahve gotten that engine for $550 - and a y8 head - because of gas prices vetec-e engines go for 500-700 more - I was surprised at people throwing cash at people with those engines"

....

end quote

what is your take on this? I am unsure if the y5 will work with the p28 and my y8 stuff / dizzy and intake manifold.....

I have the motor and he wants a picture of the block stamp to prove.. and still wants the head......

I have another friend locally that just pulled a z6 full swap with leaky head gasket....

wanted 400 for everything ... but no....

I wanted a damn good motor... grr

those motors are worth between 300 to 700 depending on condition.

probably 300-500 bucks for a long bloxk and 500-700 for a complete motor

I got a bare y5 long block - no injectors - no dizzy no wires - no alternator and a stripped manifold.......

for 550..... Plus the old y8 head off my blown motor (that I still have right now)

It depends on where you are, but I can tell you I couldn't even give away a D-series long block locally. I sold a complete Z6 swap about 2 years ago for $400 (engine with distributor and alternator, Si trans with new input shaft bearing, used clutch, Si engine harness and P28 ecu) and it took me 3 or 4 months to sell it.
