i started my car this morning and drove it to a friend's house and i noticed everytime i stopped at a stop sign and began accelerating the "brake" light would light up... but it would go off when i tapped the brakes. i checked all my fluids when i got to my friend's house. and this only happens when i start from a dead stop,after i tap the brake and the light goes off, it doesn't come back on until i stop the car again.

anything guys?

Fluid can be low.. but it also indicates you pads might be low, causing more fluid being required to get the pad in contact with the rotor.

Be careful because adding fluid, then later changing the pads will cause a overflow!!!!

 

could be the often defective reservoir cap, but check the fluid level first.. it's probably low, based on what you described..

edit: didn't think about the pads possibility.. hmm..

alos the cap on the resovoir might have gone bad. seems somewhat common.

 

another idea is to check to see if your brake lights are working.

my other car has the door dinger ring and flashes the brake light when the rear bulbs are out.

 

wouldn't the light still be on, even with a new cap, if they needed fluid?

i doubt any would admit it, and hopefully they were able to return the part!

 

Mines come on everytime it gets cold outside. In the morning when it's cold it comes on, drive it around for awhile, it goes off. Start it in the afternoon when it's a little warmer and it doesn't come on

 

That happened to me an hour ago when i was driving. Its like 40 degrees outside here and i went for a drive and the brake light was on. Im like wtf since this has never happened. I thought it was something with the parking brake because it would kinda flicker when i pulled up and then down. So i went into a store for a bit, came out, started up the car and it was gone.

 

same thing mine was doing.. new cap stopped the problem..
