What Civic is this? Confused (Asian Civics)
Hi all,
This is a Honda Civic VTi-S, 2003/2004. Is this still the same Honda Civic VTi-S in say US and Australia? The names here are a little different.
Do you know what engine is in this? I know its VTEC, but which one is it?
Thank you

That looks like a 2001-2003 Civic. The 2004 and 2005 have a different front end and rear bumper. (along with some interior changes) Also, the USA didn't have a VTi, VTi-S, or RS model.
I don't know for sure, I haven't looked it up, but I'm guessing the engine is the D16. Sorry, I'm just not familiar with the overseas versions. Needless to say I was shocked when I find out they made a 4WD version!
Edit: Here's a thread about the 4WD Civic sedan. https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-2001-2005-78/4wd-es1-2702483/

That's just an un-official face-lifted model with the plastic eyelids and front bumper.
This would definitely come with the D17A2 to haul all that fake chrome around.
The bumper looks like something that the owner made as I don't see this trim level in any of the service books for the seventh generation civics.

The Philippine and Middle East version of the 7th generation Honda Civic used the 3-stage VTEC mechanism for their VTi/VTi-S/RS Civics, equipped with a D16W9 rated with 130 hp (97 kW).
The D16W9 has always had my interest. I had always wanted to know how to convert my seventh generation D15B to the D16W9 head as the only thing we have here is the D17A2 (which is also rare).

I'd have to say YES.
I like the JDM D15B at ~130hp, so the D16W9 will not disappoint if you are looking toward an upgrade. Personally, if you have money to spend on doing an engine swap for your seventh generation civic then you might as well swap in a K20 or boost what you have (I'm personally saving to do the boost option).

That's what made me think that the car was fake to begin with a D-series engine needing a 5-lug would be interesting. A conversion it most likely is as the requirement for disc brakes on the rear. Its easy to do a swap from a DC5 integra.
Edit: then again, I don't see a clutch reservoir beside the brake fluid, so the D16W9 is being wasted on an automatic transmission.

I'm aware of these models, but I don't see a master clutch cylinder reservoir, so I've concluded that this K20 is a waste with the automatic transmission. This is the K20 that only makes ~160hp not 200 and only has VTEC on the intake side only unlike the real Type-R
That K20 with the automatic is only a little better than the D17A2 with a manual gearbox. All that power is being sapped by the automatic transmission and the power steering (it does even have EPS like the EU series)

I don't see the advantage of an automatic K20. My money would be on the manual D16W9 for spirited driving. I never really liked the look of the ES1 or ES2, but I'd take an EP3 the moment thy become cheaply affordable here.
