Default B16 Turbo Build

I recently bought a 94 civic with a b16 swap done to it. The swap has around 85k miles on it from what I was told. The engine runs good aside from the black smoke thats comes out when the car hits vtec. This makes makes the check engine light come on but the car will still run fine. Overall the car is in good condition. Im planning on building a turbo setup by piecing the parts for it myself. First thing Im planning on doing is building the engine. I decided I wanted to sleeve the the block and I found this from speed factory website: http://www.speedfactoryracing.net/st...roduct=1650639 Would this work for me, or should I just go with pistons and rods. My goal is to make a safe 375hp since this is my daily driver for my 3 mile commute to work on base. Any opinions or suggestions would be helpful on which was I should go about doing this. Now since this is being done on a budget I dont need any crazy engine setups.

Your power goal is about at the threshold of what the stock B16 sleeves will hold. If it were my motor, I would sleeve it to complement the rest of the build. The decision to do so or not all depends on your budget. Tearing down the motor and properly rebuilding should solve your smoking problem so that's a non-issue.

a larger frame turbo at least 59mm and decent amount of boost and your b16 should make 375 on stock sleeves no prob. As long as you have a good tuner, i'd throw a rod and piston combo in and roll out. Sleeves aren't needed for 375 especially on a b16. My stock rod/ctr piston b16 was making 400+whp on 15psi on E85 all day driving to work and around town!

I would fix the CEL prior to building and reinstalling the engine!

Sleeves for 375 seems much if you know a good tuner. But thats the key, a good tuner. The good thing about sleeving now is, WHEN you want more you'll be ready.

for that power goal i would skip sleeving. that is only if you don't decide to make much more than that later down the road.

The cel is just a vtec light. The motor burns oil because it's closer to 185000 miles
Not 85. Get a b16 on the side for rebuild they run a few hundred rebuild it slap it in on your kit
