my life just cant get any better, me and my roommate are on our way out to class this morning and both of our cars were broken into. they broke his window on his jetta, and pryed my door open on my integra. Both of our head units are gone, he had an alpine, i had a kenwood x859. hey there good theives they even got our remotes! his xtant amps are gone, his xtant subs are gone. his stuff was all mounted down too, my amp and subs are gone too. lucky me i dont have any receipts besides the head unit. i already filed a claim with my insurance anyone know how its gonna work since i dont have receipts?

 

when all my stuff got jacked out of my car the insurance company said they didnt need reciepts...they said the go by how much it will cost to replace the items so i just looked up the part numbers on my radar detector ect ect and they paid me for them...it was weird...they also gave me $12 per cd that was stolen.....i had 150 cds in there...pretty nice pay off i think...so if you have full coverage or theft insurance depending on your company you shouldnt need reciepts just give them the items and their part/serial number...good luck...sorry to hear about the break in....wack people who steal

what kinda insurance do you have trendsetter?.. i have full coverage on my integ. sounds like you had an easy time with the insurance compensation. they just gave you the money just like that? no questions asked?

 

i have State Farm insurance...they also insured my apartment at the time of the break in...if you have state farm it should go somethin like this...anything plugged into or directly attached to your car should go to your auto insurance anthing you had in the car such as cds, clothes, car care products (lol just listing stuff that was stolen outta my car, i just finished washin my clothes at my girlfriends house, those guys stole my clothes...luckaly they left my boxers i guess they didnt want those) all they stuff that is not directly attached will go you your renters or home owners insurance...let me know if you have any more questions

 

yeah it was really easy...i was suprised...all they wanted was exact figures of what was taken...i told them i didnt have reciepts and they were like no problem we just go on how much it would be to replace everything...now that i think of it i should of told them i had a turbo kit in the box in the back of my car and that the theives stole some recaros or somethin...just to get a lil extra out of it.....lol

anyways they sent me a form to fill out of what all was stolen i filled it out and sent it back to them...i got a check like a week and a half later....it was excited

pretty damn good......sounds like its time for me to do an insurance fraud.. hehe. they didnt even check out your car? no investigations? did you call the police when you saw your car?

 

yes the police came out and looked at my car...they took a report...i took a copy to my insurance company...but the thing was they cop that took the report just asked me the same questions...he asked me what was stolen and i told him...i forgot to tell him everything though and the insurance allowed me to add items later...so yeah its always better to have a police report...however they didnt send any insurance people to look at it...the police fingerprinted the car but other than that there were no investigations...but no insurance people even saw my car...i had major damage to the starter and steering colomn so my car was in the body shop and insurance didnt even look at it then...the body shop sent them the bill and insurance took care of it...because of this i took the liberty to get that spot on my fender that got keyed the week before taken care of just for my pain and suffering

 

well i have liberty mutual, hopefully theyll cover the stuff that was stolen. my insurance told me that anything that came with the car that was stolen is covered under my car insurance. anything aftermarket like amps, head unit, subs is covered under homeowners or renters insurance. ill keep u posted on the outcome

 

 

heres the update, the cds have been reported, the amps and subs i have no receipts for, theyre tellin me that as long as everything was mounted permanently to the car like w/brackets and bolted down itll be under my car insurance. if not homeowners would cover it. now i need to find receipts, the auto body guy told me that any receipts under any name would work, like if i bought it from another person and that other person had reciepts.....now the search is on for receipts. i had an alpine amp, an orion amp, and 2 orion subs...anybody got receipts sittin around??? j/k...but im serious....ill update more later on how much money i got

 

Go to a local car stereo store, explain the situation to them, and sometimes they will give you a "price quote" which looks exactly like a reciept, and you can give that to your insurance company. Go to a local shop, not like a CC or Best Buy. They can get you reciepts.

 

---I used to work at a stereo shop, and if the guys are cool, they can hook you up with reciepts, just go in, be nice, and tell them when you get the money you are replacing your gear through them.

 

dude that sucks... my 3gen got broken into also... i have AAA n they wanted receipts for my system because they are really strict on the fraud stuff. only thing was that i didn't have n e of it. but my friend helped me how he knows a guy who can make me receipts but at a cost... i gladly paid the price for my system of course... i got paid for my amp, headunit, and subs. now the only system i have in my car is stuff i borrowed from my friends old car cuz he crashed his gsr n isn't using it. to hell wit those thieves!

 

i have state farm too there the bomb when my teg got broken into i just told them how much everything was and they cut me a check..

anyways... I have Allstate and when my car got broken into they wanted receipts and part #'s....

be glad you dont have Farmers... Farmers gave my friend a hard time w/ his aftermarket stuff when his whole care was stolen and stripped even though he had a police report, all the receipts and everything was legit.. they were trying to say they didn't adjust his rates (raise the premiums) enough to insure all that was taken (in addition to the car... aftermarket rims, stereo, some suspension and motor mods)...

they didn't have a problem cutting a check for the car but the other stuff he had a hard time going back and forth and communicating w/ the agent/company... they were trying to tell him they'd give him the value of the stock stereo equip or some crap like that... Farmers Insurance Group

 

update: i went down to the local car audio shop and talked to the managers there, explained my situation, how i didnt have receipts, and how i wanted to get stuff done there if i got enough money back. the shop didnt carry any of the products i had stolen except the head unit which i had a receipt for already. so the guy printed me out an estimate which looks just like there receipts, except its stamped ESTIMATE, he filled it out w/all the prices i told him, model numbers all that jazz. so at least i have something in writting, thats being turned into my insurance too so well see what happens.

 

i have 21st century, does anyone know how strict they are when it comes to thefts?

 

haha I have no experience w/ 21st century.. they wouldn't insure me
