Ok, so i hope i'm going about this right. I am new to the world that is Honda and also new to the world of threads lol. I just recently purchased a 1992 Honda CX and really really love it so far. I have heard that you can do a whole bunch of things to these cars to make them look great. Just curious for some hints, help, or suggestions on the type of things i should be looking into. Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'd start with the FAQ link above, set a goal (money wise, look wise, performance wise, etc), search for any questions you have in the search link above right and then when you have specific questions you can't find an answer for ask in here.

 

Well thanks for the information. I didn't want anyone to tell me specifically what to do with or to the car, i was simply asking for ideas and some good websites to buy the parts from. I have researched some of the websites myself but with so many out there dedicated to Hondas i was just trying to find out which one's people had used and which one's work the best. What do you wish to accomplish? It's not clear in your first post.

 

What type of things are you looking to do to it? Do you have a specific budget you are working with? Is the car currently bone stock?

IMO as far as interior and exterior goes, I perfer to keep it strait honda...oem honda parts that is.

I have a 93 cx and the only aftermarket things I have on the exterior is, black housing headlights w/ city lights, amber corners, depo fogs and wheels. I eventually plan to replace the wheels w/ em1, ep3, or ls webs to keep it oem. Also looking to get oem stanley headlights and fogs. Other plans are to put on 96-00 civic sideskirts and mirrors.
As far as interior I have a few upgrades. Ctr floormats, jdm ef9 shift ****, and jdm ferio cluster. Only aftermarket item in the interior is a deep dish steering wheel with a quick release to make it harder for thieves. I eventually wanna get some better oem seats (rsx, gsr, em1..ect) and itr or sir steering wheel. I like the car to be pretty simple. Less is more in the honda world nowadays.

For the motor, not much fun when it comes to sticking to oem. I had bolt ons on my b16b, traded everything for stock intake and exhaust, and the car wasn't the same. Was nice and quiet, but lost some pep. Since then I have added all the bolts on back and plan to continue building the motor more.

Nothing wrong with upgrading suspension.

This may give you some idea of where you can start with the car. But really all up to you if you wanna get a bunch of bling factor on the car to score some points with your buddies when you'll in turn never see that money again, unless later down the road you part out the car.

First thing to do after buying a used car is check for its reliability to ensure trouble free driving. If you dont know the history of the car, perform the maintenance ASAP. engine oil, gear oil, coolant ,suspension and steering parts, brakes, electrical system,lights and signals, timing belts and the other belts, tires,rim and a few more I cant,remember. After you have made the car more reliable and your safety improved, then you can start dressing it up for performance and looks.

The best piece of advice i can give you, is if your planning on doing an engine swap or upgrade in power, always always start with your suspension and brakes first. I you cant handle or stop the vehicle there is no point in having alot of power. I installed full coil overs by form/function, rear LCA's, sway bar kit and camber kit. Start with your suspension. and welcome to the wonderful world that is Honda.

 

also research everything thru and ask all the questions you need to know before you go thru with it. ive been trying to finish my simple swap and turbo setup and its taken me about 4-5 months. due to me missing parts and having and having to wait to get enough money for the next part and you just have to fully grasp what you are about to do before you do it. a swap or turbing your car may seem like its gonna be around 3000, if you make alot of rookie moves it may be alot more. so far im about over 5k with this project so far but i went all out and upgraded everything except for engine internals and went to a jdm engine runing on E85 with vtec and turbo. before this swap i didnt even have vtec.

 

im doing this too with my ek coupe, except i got a gsr im planning on going turbo

 

i reccommend you use E85 with your setup if its readily available where your from.. i personally love it!

i was gonna go with gsr but its way more significant to lose to a sohc than a gsr hahaha but thats by far my fave motor

Thanks for all the great tips and advice. It is as far as i know pretty stock especially on the interior side of things. It doesn't have the original motor in it, it has the 1.5 SOHC V-tec motor in it, which in my opinion isn't going to break any land speed records but the gas mileage is awesome!! It has lowering springs already on the car and after market exhaust and shocks just can't remember the names right now lol. The brakes and rotors on the car are from a 95 acura gsr if im not mistaken. Pics to come soon. Thanks again

The suspension is Omni Yellows with lowering springs. I'm not sure which version of it but it is D15 motor and the breaks and rotors are off a 95 Acura GSR. Like i said this is my first Honda and i'm still learning but i'm almost certain the motor is a D15 i just don't know which D15. The exhaust on the car is an Apexi exhaust system i think. When i get home this weekend i will upload photos.

look for the engine code stamps. one on the block facing the radiator and one on the head between cylinders 3 an 4 i believe. and apexi is a nice exhaust IMHO
