How much $ to rebuild D16A6?
My D16 in my CRX has 175K on it, it burns some oil and I can hear piston tap/slap/whatever whenever it's idling (at least I think that's what it is...)
So I'm thinking of getting it rebuilt in the future, rather than my original plan of swapping in a SOHC VTEC - just because I like the little motor that could, and I won't need to worry about issues with wiring, distributors, ECU's, VTEC controllers, etc. etc.
How much does it usually cost to have a D16A6 rebuilt? Is it worth it? Will it last as long as it did the first time around?
Gimme your opinions, guys.
Thanks -
Alex

**** rebuild. Just pick up someelses that they took out for a swap. That still runs good of course. That would save you big time $$$. Or better yet,

depending on how much of a rebuild you do, i would guess at least $500. i rebuild my ZC and when it was all said and done, i had spent like $1250 with all new seals, gaskets, new pistons, rings, bearings, bottom end balanced, honed, resurfaced flywheel.
I would do a SOHC VTEC if I were you, it's not all that difficult and the perf. gains are awesome...I'm thinking of doing it and turboing the bitch...less headache than a B16
