surging idle after tune up.
replaced plugs, wires, dist cap and rotary button, and calve cover gasket. now when i crank it up it surges from 1k to 2k and stop at 1k. i chekced the throttle cable since i had to move it out the way, and checked it at the tb too, and made sure it wasnt binding. i sprayeed it with pb at the tb because it was rusty and i didnt want it getting stuck. if i move it by hand at the tb the idle will go back down to where it is suppose to be but after driving it it does it again. could it be time to replace the cable or ???
Is it really surging or just high idle. If surging then it could be a leak in your coolant or your iacv (idle air control valve). I've had it from a tinny hole in the lines from the intake mani. It could also just be your throttle cable is too tight if its just a high idle.
Loosen the throttle cable. My buddy's 88 lx was doing this exact same thing, if I pushed the throttle down it would idle perfectly, but if you gave it gas it would stick and surge from 1k to 2k up and down, up and down constantly.
Loosened the cable a few threads and pow, perfect idle.
