Prelude A/C effecting idle. Common problem, but what is the solution?
I have met and currently know many people with 5th Gen lude that have this issue. When driving, the A/C works fine. When you come to a stop, the engine's idle becomes erratic and stalls. Anyone ever get this problem fixed. Everyone I know (myself included) just gets used to turning off the A/C at every stop light. Annoying.
You should not be having a problem unless the idle control systems, namely the IACV, are not working properly. Have you gone through the procedure for setting the idle speed as outline in the service manual? If the idle air control valve is working at the end of its operating range it may not be able to control the idle with the additional AC load.
x2, i would check the idle control systems, make sure everything
is working correctly and see if that fixes the problem.
is working correctly and see if that fixes the problem.
x3. in addition to setting the base idle as per the helms manual. clean the iacv with some maf cleaner. that made a difference for me.
Well, I don"t think the problem existed until after I I had the APEXi Power FC stand alone ECU installed. I can adjust the idle with the commander all day. Results are the same as far as A/C issue goes. Does the factory ECU control the A/C? If so, I found the problem.
brilliant! any way to hook up the stock ECU to the A/C without having to get rid of the Power FC.
