I have a 2004 Honda CRV with 120,000 miles. When I start it it will start up with low RPMs like its flooded for about 10 seconds. After that it idles fine. When taking off the car will miss. I have to take off slow or it will miss. When I do get it up to say 65mph it will cruse along fine that it will start missing ( best way to describe it ) when it does this its like it has no power. Then I have to let it decelerate back down to say 40mph before it will accelerate again. Its like the ignition is missing. I didnt change anything yet but made sure there wasnt any loose connections. I had just changed my air filter. I also kinda am thinking the torque converter. What do you guys think?

 

codes? being an 04, i'm sure it will have thrown something. if you have access to a scan tool capable of reading live data, the problem could be found quickly, i'm sure

 

sparkplugs? wires?

 

When was the last time the plugs were changed?

 

40k miles ago. I have 125K on it now and changed them somewhre around 80k.

apparently the p2646 is commonly caused by a clogged vtec pressure switch and solenoid screen. same "shuddering" symptoms you'd described as well.
my advice, pull the solenoid and inspect/clean the screen. give it an oil change if it's overdue. a defective switch/solenoid can also cause this. however, the only cost of cleaning the screen is time. so it's the more efficient first option

 

Thanks for your help... I was due for an oil change. I specified 5W20 as the car calls for.. And BAM.. It runs like a champ. Almost. When I start my CRV its like it has too much gas. It kinda hesitates like its flooded. Can smell the gas sometimes but not all the time. After I get the RPMs up it chokes a little than kinda cleans up and runs fine after that. If I was to stop it and start it right back up it doesnt do it. Just if I leave it sitting for a while.
