I put EX big brakes off of a '94 (94-95 Civic EX had larger brake rotors and calipers than 92-93 EX and the LX/DX/etc.) onto my '90 hatch and can no longer fit my beloved VX wheels on it, had to hunt up some 14s for it.
The VX wheels fit fine on any stock-brakes 88-91 Civic/CRX though. They are lighter than HX wheels by a slight margin.
HX wheels are the bomb, 14" tires are fairly common but not as cheap as 13". Get them if you plan on upgrading brakes at any point in the future.
I upgraded, and now have a set of VX wheels I can't use.
