Just got done with 5spd swap.

Cons: car runs very sluggish barely wants to get to 40mph.
passenger axle keeps popping out every time u drive.
cruise control isnt working.

Now the only different from the write-up i followed is I did not use a y8 intake manifold. IDK if it was necessary or not. Also i did not use a manual ECU. I plan on putting a EX manual ecu on there. Also I plan on wiring up cruise control but the colors on my plug are different so Idk what to wire up.

I read the write up and now i need this car to go to work. please help

 

hey, check your sensors for the sluggish part but most likely sounds like an ecu problem i would cahnge that over to a manuel ecu, the axle popping i had this problem in my eg hatch, check the c-clip, it is probably flared out preventing it from going in all the way they are ceap to replace, or your can just bend it and put it back on, as for the cruise control im not too sure sorry hope this helps!

 

What c-clip? I figured out the cruise control. but thanks Ill change the ecu later today

You need the correct ECU for the motor first thing.

 

Ok so axles I fixed it was missing the C-clip, now the car still runs sluggish like super super slow.

 

I also put the manual EX ecu but it dont work so now I have to look for LX cluster.

 

you have to have the ecu for you motor not your tranny. Also it will not cause any big issues running a auto ecu in a manual. It will throw a cel light but its not a big deal. I ran with a auto ecu for a while. Look up the guide on making your auto ecu manual its pretty easy i think you remove to resistors and replace one with a solid wire. As for it being sluggish... sounds like you have other sensors messed up. I would check what CEL you have an let us know.

 

I think retarded the car by putting the distributor on wrong by a bit.. Im running the LX ECU now. Im going to get a timing gun later tonight.

glad you figured most of it out, like WSA said check all your sensors, and is it throwing any codes? maby o2 sensor, bad map?
