Default Boosted first gen questions...

This may have been covered (as I'm just starting to poke around in here)...

Toying with the idea of a boosted first gen crv (5 speed, awd). The motor would be a built setup of sorts (or a lower boost stock motor - b16/b18b-c).

I guess the question is, what needs to be beefed up? I'm mostly familiar with d-series. Would it be favourable to run an LSD? What are the limits with the driveshaft? If the bearings are good, are there limits where things start to wobble power wise? Anything with the transfer case?

I appreciate any help, or if you can direct me towards a good FAQ page.

AWD system is good to 400 hp
b motors are b motors..you can find that info anywhere.
everything else is just the same as a civic/integra as far as power limitations. lsd is very difficult and requires machining of h22 tranny parts...just stick with the AWD and you'll be okay.

if your doing less than 400hp then your ok w/ the tranny and rear diff, as w/ the engine all you need
to do is treat it as any engine builds.. since your familiar w/ D series, im sure most ways or routes are
similar to any honda builds... emphasis on rods, pistons...etc

good luck!

Yeah.. basically my hatch rotted out (go Canadian winters!), and so I'm looking at the next platform to use. I figure AWD with boost is a great option - a lot less wheel spin issues, still a honda platform (thus "tuning" is not some fmu nonsense), and I can still get the chassis for fairly cheap. For that kind of HP I may just find a b16 stock motor that is healthy and run that.

Hell no at using a stock b16 motor, you need torque to get these chassis moving. Good luck with your build.

I'm running around with no driveshaft(so no awd) and LSD is a must or it'll pull to the side like crazy. I'm kind of nervous about awd.

You saw the point about "boosted", right? ;-)

From this thread:

https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...365747&page=50

b16a jdm bone stock
just with apr head studs

walbro 255 fuel pump
440 rc injectors
ramhorn mani peakboost
3inch open dp
turbonectics turbo,bov and wastegate
50trim t3/t4

s4c tranny
stage 3 comp clutch
lightweight steel flywheel from comp

dyno tuned
no o2 sensor turned off
tuned on .6 bar about 8.5 psi

made 293 whp
and 199 tq

200 tq (on a low boost setup) isn't the worst in the world...

You're right though... an LS might be a better setup, especially bang for the buck. I've love to boost the b20, but the cylinder walls make me nervous... Maybe a sleeved ls/b20 will do the trick.

My motor is stock sleeved making well over that and isn't my first stock sleeved motor. Proper tune is more important.

oh, for sure... there's a very reputable tuner I will probably get to tune my setup.

Do you have a build thread/specs on your setup?

ive ran 2 of my previous set ups on stock sleeves, even what i have now is still on stock sleeves,
since im on a low boost set up too.. my tuner just did the right job on getting power and still im
getting 24-28mpg..LOL!

good tuning is the key! good luck...
