1990 Civic Lx, 1.5L, 5 speed, 280k, STILL driving it...
The thermal switch is under the intake manifold in the back of the block, located between number 2 and number 3 cylinders. You will notice a small rubber cover over it. It's above the oil filter, if I remember right.
The thing you're holding is a fan relay. I've never figured out which is which, but I believe the A/C fan relay is the one mounted to the fan shroud.


Be sure to check fuse 15. It's always dumb stuff like that that gets you.

Also, check G101, the grounding hub on the water neck , where the bottom radiator hose connects. That ground is infamous. Are you in Austin, perhaps? If you are, I can help you out with this.
