i have 3 distributors and had 2 more to compare before that and it seems like those 3 sensors are identical in all of the b/d series distributors.
1 the main shaft was NOT identical in all dizzys that i had
(p06 stamped on CYP sensor pickup snail part)
2 when i alligned the main shafts of all 5 dizzys they looked identical
3) out of 3 that i have left the magnetic pickup sensors look identical and theres no marks that would differentiate them from eachother.
one stamped 4 another stamped 7 and other td-44u is not even clear what the stamp is
4) in the civic manual y7 and y8 dizzy is listed as same for troubleshooting(y5 is different)
5) 92-95 manual doesnt list any difference in troubleshooting those 3 sensors between vtec and non vtec engines
6) manuals list same resistance between terminals for B and D series vtec or non vtec
why im doing this?
because in my b16 dizzy all the wires were brittle and insulation fell off completely so i need to replace the sensors
and other vtec dizzy i have starting to break wire insulation as well
the only one thats good wires is the d15b7 dizzy
so i want to make sure if anyone can confirm that they have done that before and worked fine or any other proof or not proof that they are in fact identical.
to me it looks like they are but i would like to know for sure because some people say it can be done others say it cant be done but i havent seen any solid proof for either side.

if anyone can look at their magnetic pickup units and post the stamp number on it.
i think both of my vtec ones are stamped 7 and non vtec is stamped 4
i just want to confrm and put this confusion to an end.

Yeah I remeber back in the day when I use to swap parts
The non vtec and single cam have so diffrences in the degree of the distributor shaft.
To clear that up if you put both cam rotors on the shafts and line the up straight then look at the pin hole on the upper part of the shaft for the distributor cap roter the don't line up the same.

the dizzy case determines position as far as i can tell from the ones i have
but im more worried about magnetic pickups if they are diferent specs
but now that i think about it if people can run LS and single cam motor to 9k with stock dizzy then it should be fine

Ive used non VTEC distributors on VTEC motors and vice versa in the past with no issues, codes, etc. just my .02

can everyone check their distributors or any that you have laying around and post the stamp that is on magnetic pickup.
also post the distributor code and year when the engine was made.
after looking today i belive they are same
the only difference is the casting and main shaft.
