B16 "chugging" when accelerating
Just finished my engine transplant into another car and took it out for a test.
After a minute of driving, the car will not accelerate. If I put my foot on the accelerator, it might rev up to 2-3k, but no higher. If I put my foot right down, the revs get lower and the car wants to cut out. It starts to splutter and backfire!
It's even worse trying to go uphill.
I have an aftermarket fuel tank, filter, Walbro fuel pump
I have new ht leads, spark plugs etc
Also noticed that when I press the brake or turn on the lights, the revs drop. it might be related.
Any ideas?

Timing is fine. Not been touched since it was taken out the other car.
I don't think it was in limp mode. If I ease the throttle open, it slowly revs up. If I turn the car off and on again, it seems to get a bit better for a few seconds.
No codes. No CEL

I'll check all of these things.
Think it could be fuel starvation. The fuel could be sloshing to the back of the alloy tank, and not reaching the external pump.
Gonna triple check the basics....vacuum lines, earths, sensors etc...

Tps and map are correct
Checked for vacuum leaks and kinked wires.
Throttle body is fine.
Fitted a swirl pot, so it's not fuel starvation.
Fitted a new fpr.
It seems fine for the first few minutes, but then the problem starts - low idle, and almost stalling when I press the throttle.
I disconnected the lambda sensor and got a CEL, but the idle got better and the car revved up to about 5.5k rpm.

Could incorrect ignition timing cause this? I moved the distributor a few month ago.....could the timing being slightly too advanced/retarded cause this?
Still having trouble with this.
I have redone the ignition timing, changed the engine loom, and distributor.
After a minute of driving, the car does not want to rev past 4k rpm.
The really strange thing is that when I turn the engine off, then on again, it's fine again for another minute, but then the problem starts again.
Getting pretty pissed off with this problem now.
No cel.
As its a JDM car, the exhaust temp sensor light is on, but that was on before the swap.
Any advice?
