98 civic starting problem and powering down please help me! ecu? fpr? injectors?
My honda will start but it takes holding the key in for longer than normal, it rumbles sometimes after it does start, then evens out after a few revs.
One day my car starts with a misfiring type rumbling feeling in the engine. In the same day it took 5 minutes, then 10 minutes, then didn't start at all.
It took replacing spark plugs to get it starting at all one time because the plugs were fouled with carbon and unburnt gas. It took less than 3 weeks from brand new to fouled. The timing was off by 10 degrees I found out afterwards and it was fixed, for 3 days it was fine and the problem came right back again.
The tps was off by a little at 4.68 volts, that was replaced after the plugs because it was reving up and down by it's self in idle.
The fuel pump relay clicks.
I am seeing that my car overheats every 2 or 3 days, which isn't normal.
New installed parts:
Alternator, serpentine belts, timing belt, tps, head gasket, power and ground
wires, starter, fuel pressure regulator, cap, rotor, and fuel pump, oil was done 600 miles ago.

Sounds like you have a couple problems. For the starting issue I'd check your main relay. As for the overheating are your fans working?
What main relay and how do you check it?
As for the cooling system, the radiator, heat sensor, heat sensor relay, all hoses, all clamps, and proper coolant mixture, all new. The fan is working.

What about the thermostat? What kind of headgasket was used and how long ago was it installed? Did you have the head resurfaced?
Thermostat is also brand new. 172 degree thermostat oem. The head was resurfaced, and a Gates MLS head gasket replaced the old one. It was installed a month ago.
Everything was done all within 1 month. I need to find out how to get this thing solved. There is a fuel or electrical problem here and I've tried everything I can. None of the mechanics here can figure it out. They are all stumped and lost just like me.
The muffler and center exhaust is also new. That was installed a year ago. The distributor's ignition thing was checked and passed. As far as I know, this all points to the distributor, the fuel pump, the fuel pump relay, or there being a leak in the fuel line, or the injectors are messed up.
Before this nightmare, the battery light was flashing intermittently, and I then kept replacing things like the alternator, battery, wires, cap and rotor, then the alternator again because I thought maybe a brand new and non-refurbished alternator would do the trick. It did. I haven't seen a single battery light flash since.
When you turn on the car the inevitable happens whether the car starts fine or not, the car powers down. It powers down, like a choking feeling, an insufficient flow of gas to the engine feeling. It will do this twice, and always 100 feet down the road, then it will go away. That has been happening since before this all happened. It started happening after it sat unstarted for 6 solid weeks. It then started overheating. I then got work done on it. Then battery flashing a few months later. Then started weirdly. Then didn't start at all. Then did, then had rpms jumping up and down, then didn't and started fine for a while. Then someone told me the timing was off by 10 degrees. It ran perfect for 3 days, then went right back to the weird starting again, and also overheating, which I don't think has much to do with it.
A few days ago what would do the trick is priming the pump a few times and it would start perfect. Just a few clicks away. It is now rumbling misfire-ish and I feel like the same thing is happening all over again.
I checked my plugs the other day as it was doing the same thing it is doing right now, and they are not covered in anything. They have a slight gray dusting. They are perfect.
