whats wrong with my engine?
its a D16Y8...with 120,000 miles on it! mods: CAI,headers, exhaust, milled 40 thousandths, cam gear retarded 1 degree.
below 4500 rpms its has no power, almost feels like the engine it working against its self. Like when you let off the gas only it feels like your letting off the gas whileyour still trying to accelerate ( I know that probably didn't make any since, but Im sleepy and that the only way I can think to describe it right now)
once it gets to about 4500rpms it comes to life like it used to but still doesn't feel as powerful ( it was never really Powerful to begin with) as it did even a week ago.
ALSO; my tranny..when starting in first sometimes i can hear a grinding/rattling noise as if I weren't completly in gear but will still pull away, I always take it bake out of gear and put it back in, but when I put it back in gear and try again it doesn't do it.
Any ideas on either of my problems?

WHY ARE YOU RETARDED 1 DEGREE WITH A MILLED HEAD!? .012 of milling retards your cam 1 degree. So, that's like 3.3 degrees, plus retarding your cam= about 4.5 degrees retarding. Why is your setup like that? Advance your cam 5 degrees, or back to 0, and you should be good. Don't mess with your stuff without a dyno.
retarded cam= better low end
advance= better high end
But when you go too extreme, it's just a complete loss. That would be the first thing to do- bring back cam timing to 0, if not plus 1 or 2
