Default Smurfed out GSR build

Alright, kind of a long story. I just picked up a 99 GSR with 150k. It's work in progress. The guy I bought it from was the original owner and gave me documentation as well as pictures to prove that and all the scheduled maintenance. The car was pretty much stock except for an ugly smurf/baby blue paint job his ex wife took the courtesy of doing while he was out of the country. She even gave him the courtesy of documenting the entire process as well....

When he came back to make lemonade out of a lemon he decided to paint a smurf on it because the blue matched the smurfs skin color perfectly.....

Anyway, car was stolen on a Sunday night, he posted it for sale on CL the very next morning as soon and the towing yard contacted him. I agreed to meet him there and throw it on a flatbed if it looked like it was in salvageable condition. All the towing yard told him was that it was missing the wheels and seats and had no idea if it ran. I met him at the tow yard later that day, it was sitting on bricks. Popped the hood and the motor was still in there. There was no sign of entry on the doors or windows, only the front seats and stereo were missing and there steering column/ignition had been busted. I offered him $900 and he pays for the storage and tow fee. After I arranged for a flatbed to come pick it up off of CL for $100 I was in only $1000 even.

Got the car home and my roommate had some del sol rims we threw on there to roll it off the truck. Then we threw in one of his eg seats, cranked the busted ignition and it fired it up. Holds a nice idol and doesn't make any crazy sounds, burn any oil, ect ect. The motor, the interior and the body were pretty well maintained...except for the paint job. Oh and he wasn't insured so its a clean title.

This is the morning after I bought it.

Ive done a little work on it..not too much tho, interior is pretty much stripped except the carpet and one seat, and I was able to sand half the car.....theres still a lot to do.

I guess the other guy got deals on a poopy aftermarket header through his friend because his stock one was done, the K&N was off my old teggy.

Can't decide if sexy because girl can paint, or bad because she sucks at it...

I know right?! Im still stoked over the price, that was like a once or twice a year find on craigslist. And yes sir that that is a spec 2 exhaust. I found that for 300 on cl, had hardly been used. Once everythings painted and repaired im planning on getting high flow cat or a test pipe, good news is if i get a test pipe i dont have to get emissions for 2 years cause he just got it done like 2 weeks before it got jacked. And im about to build and icebox, I found some pretty good threads.

Im going to paint it stock black, Idk the name of the color but the codes still in the door. I have a buddy that has an autobody cert thats about to help me clean the body up and possibly shave the sides..Im still kinda undecided, shaved sides look clean for sure, but I just want a fresh *** gsr sitting on a 5 lug at some point Im also trying to grab an oem lip kit before i get it sprayed. As for the motor, gonna just dd it until it needs a swap or a rebuild, then after that hopefully try to track it.

I have a couple of jetskis im trying to sell to fund all this btw, so if anyone lives in the Seattle area and is trying to pick up 2 seadoos and a trailer lmk.

Update: did work, bought some parts

So I finished stripping the interior and installed a new steering column and ignition. Bought a headliner off craigslist for 30 bucks and front leathers for 175. Need to clean that as well as the rest of the interior, plastics, carpet, window trim/seal, ect. Clutch is making a crazy noise and Im getting some wheel hop or wheel drag at low rpm first gear and mid power band all others. Seems like I need to keep the rpms around 1-1.5k when slipping the clutch in or else it sounds like the car is going to fall apart. I think this is clutch chatter, so I bought an exedy oem replacement and a fidanza 12lb flywheel. Both of which I still need to install. Got the car sanded (down to metal in a few spots). just need to loosen all the panels and hand sand between the cracks, I also picked up a big 4 (4x114)conversion and some Si's. I now need to sell the Si's to fund the rest of my paint and body.

The big 4 was off a JDM 96 ITR with some clean rims/center caps. The downfall to this is that I need to buy:2 tires, set of pads, possibly some line, 1 rotor, and resurface 3....

This picture doesnt do the seats much justice. Theyre pretty clean, I still need to clean them up tho.

Comments and suggestions welcomed!

why'd you decide to go with 4x114 instead of going five lug?

I went with the big 4 because I got it for $500. I couldnt pass that up. Plus the rims are lighters than the 5 lug itr, not that it makes too much of a difference. Fastbrakes sells 11" 4x114 rotors that ive been looking at as well. Bigger rotors, some pads a and steel lines would make a nice practical addition at a pretty affordable price.

Thx dude. Craigslist is the way to look for parts in the seattle area. I check it first thing every morning and probably like 10 more times during the day.

Nice man, thanks! I appreciate sum1 that can share my enthusiasm. I wanted this exhaust since I had my last Integra aaawhile ago. Also $350 on a big4 is a super deal. Mine was $500 but I need to put like another $2-300 into it to be functional. And a couple of tires...

UPDATE!

My smurfed out integra is about to be the not so smurfed out integra. I handed the keys over to a close friend that does body and paint in his homies garage converted shop today. Everything is pretty much sanded, all the moldings and trim pieces taken off, except i dont know how to pop the quarter window short of calling a glass guy so if anyone knows hoe pls let me know! besides that, the car is pretty much ready for some minor body work then paint. The two of them are going to be documenting the whole process so ill be able to post a step by step process of the work thats being done. Ive decided to shave the sides, all emblems and the spoiler. Its about to be painted jet black with 0 flakes. Im feeling very optimistic on how this is going to turn out. I trust the 2 people working on my car probably more than I trust myself working on my car. Also picked up sum usdm itr seats for $300, got rid of the leathers. I 4got to get some shots of the seats, but heres my car as of 2 days ago.
