Default D16Y8 to DX head.... blasphemy

I've found many articles/posts on the a mini me swap....well what about the reverse....a DX head on a D16Y8? You may ask why I even would think of doing this..... MPG.... I don't really care about power, as I have an automatic anyway.

How much of an issue am I looking at with this?

IIRC, It would be the same as the mini me convo, just backwards.

I highly doubt the "gain" will not be worth it.

yea, it'd probably take a year or two to just break even on gas mpg.
if you want mpg, you want a stage 3 vtec head, or a even a b7 motor or something along those lines.

A dx head wouldn't net you more then maybe a mile per gallon. It'd take a long time to make up the difference as your ex should get mid 30's as it is. (if you arent back off the throttle a bit/get a tuneup)

I'm averaging about 31.5 right now with mainly 55 to 65 mph highway driving. I drive conservatively, but it is an automatic so I wasn't thinking I could get much more out of it. However, I don't know the maintenance history of the car other than it had the waterpump and timing belt replaced about 10k miles ago, it has about 157000 now. I do believe it has a stock set of plug wires though, so all I can do is assume the rest is just as "new".

Good point about breaking even on MPG to cost.
